David Michie
Head of Farming and Land Use, Soil Association Scotland
David is head of the Farming and Land Use team and deputy director of Soil Association Scotland. His role is to support and enable farmers in Scotland to work with nature to build thriving, resilient businesses. He focuses on systems-based approaches to sustainable food production.
David joined Soil Association Scotland in November 2015 after working for SRUC as a consultant and organic specialist. He still teaches organic farming to post and undergraduate students. He has worked as a researcher specialising in soil nutrient management projects, and as an organic certification officer.
From a farming family, David has over 20 years’ experience working in agriculture.
David is a member of a running club, helps out at a kids’ running club, and occasionally enters races.
