Horticultural Manager 

John English joins the Farming and Land Use team as Horticultural Manager maternity cover (for Carolyn Coxe). His original training was as a metallurgist and aeronautical engineer followed by 20 years in the Civil Service as a project manager in military aircraft procurement and then as the leader of a management consultancy team, working on organisational change.
 
Looking for a reconnection to the land, a career change was inspired by the Transition Movement, which led him to join the Soil Association Apprenticeship scheme at The Community Farm near Bristol. He went on to join the growing team permanently and has been the Head Grower there for the last 7 years. His range of skills and experience will be invaluable in our drive to increase fruit and vegetable Consumption and production in the UK.
