Mark Borthwick
Evaluation Officer, Soil Association Scotland
Mark works across all the farming programmes to develop their efficacy and increase their impact on farming in Scotland, and the environment at large. He is developing an evidence base for the relationship between low-input farming techniques and resilient natural capital. Mark is also working on a Horizon 2020 project to explore alternatives to antibiotic use on organic farms.
Before working at the Soil Association, Mark led a research project exploring food poverty in Scotland. Before that he researched forest food systems in the Yosemite Valley.
He grew up in the Lake District eating snails and only snails and aspires one day to own a dog.
