Woodland Carbon Code

Soil Association Certification validates and verifies projects for the Woodland Carbon Code, the UK’s voluntary carbon standard for woodland creation projects.

Woodland creation is one of our most powerful tools in the fight against climate change. Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as they grow.

The Woodland Carbon Code is the UK’s government-backed standard for creating new woodlands that generate carbon credits in line with high-integrity standards.

Backed by the forest industry and carbon market experts, the Code provides independently verified carbon units that generate income for landowners and enable organisations to compensate for their unavoidable emissions.

We validate and verify projects developed under the code, which has been designed to remove carbon and therefore help tackle climate change, while supporting nature and benefitting communities.

The Woodland Carbon Code is delivered by Scottish Forestry on behalf of the governments of the UK, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
